MEC MOTSUMI URGES THE PUBLIC TO ALLOW THE LAW TO TAKE ITS CAUSE ON THE MATTER OF WATERKLOOF HILLS PRIMARY SCHOOL

The North West Department of Education MEC, Ms Viola Motsumi strongly urged the public to allow the law to take its cause on the matter, which involved two boy learners, one in Grade 1 and another in Grade 4, at Waterkloof Hills Primary School.

It is alleged that on the morning of 11 February 2026, the parents of the victim came to lodge a complaint with the principal, stating that their son had been violated by another learner in the school’s bathrooms on the previous day. Immediately, the school management concluded by suspending the alleged perpetrator.
The MEC for Education, Viola Motsumi expressed that the Department views the incident which happened at Waterkloof Hills Primary School as a very sensitive matter.

“The Department views the incident at Waterkloof Hills Primary School as a serious and a sensitive matter. I therefore, urge everyone to allow the law to take its cause. I wish people who do not have children at Waterkloof Hills Primary School to refrain from going to the school in order to allow teaching and learning to unfold peacefully without any disturbance.

“Let me also indicate that the Department has already started with its own internal investigations to find out on what transpired on the day of the incident. The Department will also provide psychosocial support to the affected learners, teachers and parents”, added MEC Motsumi.
The alleged perpetrator who will be accompanied by his parents, is expected to attend a disciplinary process scheduled to take place on Monday, 23 February 2026.
