Second Chance Programme

 

The North West Department of Education encourages all NSC candidates who wrote examinations from 2008 to 2025 and all Senior Certificate candidates who aspire to complete/ improve Grade 12 to grab the Second Chance Matric programme with both hands.

What is the main Objective of the Programme:

Second Chance Matric programme seeks to provide support to learners who were unable to meet the pass requirements, to upgrade the Matrie results of either the National Senior Certificate examination (NSC) or Senior Certificate (SC) examinations.

Who Qualifies to write in May/June 2026:

  • NSC Candidates of 2025 Academic year
  • Supplementary candidates
  • All candidates who want to improve NSC Examination (Open Exam)
  • All Senior Certificate (SC) Candidates
  • Registration Dates: 12 January 2026 – 09 February 2026

WHERE IS REGISTRATION CONDUCTED:

  1. All 2025 NSC matric candidates will register at their former secondary schools as Supplementary candidates
  2. All candidates NSC Matric (2008-2025) and SC candidates will register at the nearest Municipal offices (formerly known as Local Education Offices) and SCMP centres
