The North West Department of Education has embarked on the autumn camps across the province. These camps are aimed at improving matric results.
The camps, which commenced on Friday, 28 March 2025, target underperforming schools, vulnerable schools with pass rates around 70%, and those with progressed learners. To ensure learners’ participation, parents sign commitment letters, while Grade 12 learners also sign their own commitment letters, pledging not to engage in any illegal activities during the camps.
According to the MEC for Education, Viola Motsumi, these camps form part of the First Push Campaign.
“As the North West province, we have started with the journey of supporting our learners right at the beginning of the year. These camps are part of the First Push campaign.
“These camps are going to deal in detail with the work done on the first quarter. Teachers are going to conduct revision of different topics and to assist learners with problematic topics. When they go back to their schools, they will be understanding the work done in the first quarter of the year”, said MEC Motsumi.
The Autumn Camps are expected to end on Friday, 04 March 2025.
