NORTH WEST CELEBRATES MRS RASESEMOLA’S PRESENTATION AT THE G20 TALIS LAUNCH

The North West Department of Education takes great pride in Mrs Agnes Segaka Rasesemola, Boitshoko Circuit Manager in the Bojanala District, who represented South Africa with distinction as a speaker at the prestigious G20 TALIS Launch held at Sekukuza Lodge in Mpumalanga province on Thursday, 23 October 2025.

Mrs Rasesemola’s presentation focused on “Teachers and School Leaders as Constructors of Learning”, drawing on South Africa’s participation in the OECD Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS) 2024 and highlighting the country’s commitment to advancing teacher professionalism, leadership and continuous development.

As a seasoned education leader and innovator, Mrs Rasesemola shared her transformative journey from the classroom to circuit management a story rooted in her time as the founding principal of Sunrise View Secondary School, where she pioneered the vision of “bringing town to the township.” Her leadership turned the school into a beacon of excellence, achieving a 100% matric pass rate and inspiring replication of model school practices in township contexts.

Her powerful address underscored the importance of collaboration over competition, twinning of schools and mentorship-driven professional growth as key levers for transforming education systems. She further emphasised that teachers and school leaders must be supported as adaptive designers of learning, capable of bridging diversity, technology and inclusion within the classroom.

A multi-award-winning educator, Mrs Rasesemola holds several national and continental honours, including:
* African Union Continental Teacher Prize (2021)
* National Teaching Awards:
Excellence in Secondary School Leadership (1st Place, 2017)
Excellence in Physical Sciences Teaching (2nd Place, 2013)
National Best Teacher Award (2nd Place, 2021)

Mrs Rasesemola continues to make the North West Province proud and inspire teachers across South Africa by making education and teaching fashionable. She recently returned from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where she attended the Pan-African Conference on Teacher Education and Development (PACTED and participated in a roundtable discussion as an African Union Ambassador, contributing to continental strategies for teacher training, recognition and professional growth.
“Mrs Rasesemola continues to elevate the teaching profession through her passion for leadership, mentorship, and transformation. Her global recognition is a testament to the talent and dedication that define the North West education community,” said MEC for Education, Ms Viola Motsumi.

The North West Department of Education congratulates Mrs Rasesemola on this remarkable milestone and applauds her continued commitment to quality education, professional growth, and the empowerment of both teachers and learners.
