
MEC for the North West Department of Education has today set everything aside and paid a monitoring visit to the building of Batho Batho Primary School in Mareetsane Village.
The MEC made a sord turning of the project in November 2023 and handed over the contractor to Kgosi Motshegare, his council and the community of Mareetsane to kickstart the project of building a brand new school. The construction was scheduled to start and finish within the timeframe of 18 months, that is why the honorable MEC has visited the project to assess progress and possible challenges experienced during the process.
MEC Motsumi is very impressed with the progress registered to date and the quality of work advanced at the site.
” I am very happy to observe that the building of the school is at a highly advanced stage. The quality of work that has been demonstrated by the constractor gives one courage to announce that the contractor has so far done a wonderful work. I also want to commend the community of Mareetsane for not having disturbed the project through any protest like we sometimes encounter in other communities,” said MEC.
The recruitment and subconstructing process was also reported fair and transparent to the community members who qualified to do some work during the construction process.
As a result, it is clear that the relationship between Kgosi and all stakeholders was very condusive. “I am also delighted to observe that most of the subcontractors for the project were women from the community. I want to take this opportunity to thank not only the contractor but the whole community of Barolong ba ga Kgosi Motshegare, concluded MEC.
The allocated amount of more than R59 million was therefore used profitably to benefit the children of the people of Mareetsane. The contractor, reported that the community has been very supportive and working in harmony with them. The challenges of rain for some period during the cause of the year mainly caused some notable delays, but the project is just about to be concluded.
The current status of the project covers the building of a Grade R Block( 3 classrooms) , a science laboratory, Admin block, 4 classroom blocks (each block has 4 classrooms), 4 HOD Offices, Multipurpose Centre, which covers Computer Centre and Library, NSNP Ktchen with 2 eating areas, Storage Tank for Water , Pump Houses and Fire Protection.
A total of 82 people from the community have benefited from the entire project through employment, and the Mareetsane community is very happy and appreciates the initiative by the North West Department of Education for the project that will bring the best quality education to Maretsane .
