The department has prepared 438 public centres. All of these centres have been audited for compliance in terms of facilities, staff capacity space , conduciveness, security and storage capacity as well as full adherence of Covid-19 protocols.

Marikana Secondary school has been the worst affected by the school disruptions since the beginning of July 2020. The disruptions started after the appointment of the new principal for the school.

Education MEC in the province Mmaphefo Matsemela condemns this practice and says it is really concerning that elements of criminality and/or corruption at the expense of tax paying citizens.

MEC Matsemela accompanied by a team of curriculum experts visited Nauproort and Iterelong Secondary schools both farm schools in the area of Rustenburg to analyze their Preliminary examinations results.

MEC Mmaphefo Matsemela condemns this with the strongest terms as it is set pack for learners and the education system at large. She says those who burnt the schools are savagely cruel.
