MATLODING PRIMARY TO RECEIVE RENOVATIONS

North West Department of Education MEC, Viola Motsumi, today introduced a contractor to Matloding Primary School in Matloding village, Ratlou Local Municipality.

Matloding Primary School has experienced significant structural damage due to termite infestation. An assessment by the appointed contractor revealed that several critical components of the school’s infrastructure, including roofing, ceilings, flooring, wall finishes, and external aprons, have deteriorated.

MEC Motsumi stated that this intervention by the department is not only for the immediate safety of teachers and learners but also part of the department’s broader commitment to maintaining resilient and sustainable educational facilities in the province.

“The structural damages caused by termite infestation pose a significant risk to the safety of learners and teachers while also disrupting the school’s ability to function effectively. I urge the community to work together with the department to fix the school and not disrupt the progress registered,” says MEC Motsumi.

The Contractor has promised to complete all major renovations of Matloding Primary School by the end of November this year so that learners can occupy refurbished classrooms in the next academic year.
