The North West Department of Education will be hosting the 2026 Provincial South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod (SASCE) Music Competitions. The Provincial SASCE Music Competition serves as a platform to showcase and develop the musical talents of learners across the province while promoting excellence in arts and culture within schools.
The 2026 Provincial South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod (SASCE) Music Competitions will be held as follows:
Time: 08:00
Date: 21 – 23 May 2026
Venue: Mmabatho Convention Centre (Mafikeng)
The MEC for Education, Viola Motsumi, highlighted that the Department intends to empower learners holistically in all aspects of life.
“It is our intention to empower learners holistically in all areas of life besides the classroom environment. The SASCE music competition is a platform designed to expose the musical talent of learners. When learners complete their secondary schooling, they will proceed to tertiary institutions fully aware of the other talents they possess. Therefore, the role played by our teachers in schools is very crucial, as they assist learners in understanding and recognising their potential in various extra-curricular activities,” added MEC Motsumi.
The winning choirs from the provincial level will go on to represent the province at the national level on 30 June to 03 July 2026 at Moreleta Kerk, Pretoria East.
Members of the media are invited to cover the event.
