The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has noted with concern the spread of false and misleading information on social media suggesting that the Basic Education Employment Initiative (BEEI) will continue into a “Phase 5.”

The Department firmly clarifies that these claims are inaccurate. The current group of Education and General School Assistants will remain appointed until the end of November 2025, in accordance with the approved project schedule. No official decision has been made regarding any extension or renewal of the initiative beyond its existing phase.
