NINE SCHOOLS RECEIVED SPORTING EQUIPMENT FROM ACSR DURING THUNTSA LEROLE PROGRAMME

About nine schools in Tswaing local Municipality received sports equipment donated by the Department of Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation during the Thuntsa Lerole programme held at George Madoda Primary School in Delaryville on Friday, 03 October 2025.

In the efforts of promoting sports amongst the learners, the Department of Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation donated sport equipment which constitute of namely: Football match balls, 2 set of bibs, Netball match balls, Volleyball match balls and set of poles, Javeline (500g, 600g and 700g, shot-put (3kg, 4kg, 5kg and 6kg), Discuss (1kg, 1,5kg, 1,5kg), Ball Pump with valve, Cones (flat and medium) and Measuring tape 30m.

Below are the names of the nine schools which received the sport equipment from the Department of Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation:
– Geysdorp Secondary School
– Kopanelo Secondary School
– Tirisano Secondary School
– Leruntse Lesedi Secondary School
– Tumisang Primary School
– George Madoda Primary School
– Kelebogile Primary School
– Zooihuis Primary School
– Gothatata Secondary School

The MEC for Education, Viola Motsumi appreciated the gesture from the Department of Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation.

“On behalf of the Department l would like to appreciate the sports equipment received by the nine schools of Tswaing Local Municipality. This gift is in line with our programme of keeping our learners busy with sport. This donation will be able to encourage our schools to implement the programme of Wednesday School Sport. There is no reason for schools with sporting equipment not take part in the Wednesday School Sport programme.

“I would like to encourage the School Managements of all the schools which received the sport equipment to take care of their donations. Learners who participate in sports benefit from improved physical health, enhanced mental well-being, and the development of crucial life skills like teamwork, discipline, time management, and leadership. Sports also contribute to academic success, foster positive social connections, build self-confidence, and promote a sense of teamwork”, added MEC Motsumi.

The MEC for Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation, Tsotso Tlhapi motivated the learners of Leretletse Lesedi Secondary School in Ottosdal and monitored the Computer Class, School Library and the Home Economics classes.
