As part of the ongoing Thuntsha Lerole Reloaded Service Delivery Program, North West Education Department led by MEC Viola Motsumi on Friday 01 November 2024 conducted a site visit to Rekgaratlhile Secondary School in Stella, and John Frylinck Secondary School in Vryburg to monitor the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examination process.
MEC Motsumi was joined by Education Chief Director for District Coordination, Pauline Mokhutle, Head of Department for Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation (ACSR), Itumeleng Mogorosi, and ward councillor Freddy Mgida, among other officials.
The delegation expressed satisfaction with the smooth and incident-free conduct of the exams, reflecting the department’s steadfast commitment to supporting the 2024 cohort.
Rekgaratlhile and John Frylinck Secondary Schools have 68 and 79 registered candidates respectively with examinations progressing without significant disruptions. This visit is part of the North West Department of Education’s comprehensive strategy to bolster support for the 2024 cohort as they tackle this critical stage of their academic journey.
Following the examination monitoring, MEC Motsumi proceeded to Heidi Pre-School where she distributed essential educational materials to Grade R learners. This initiative underscores the department’s dedication to early childhood education, ensuring young learners have the foundational tools necessary for a successful start in their educational journey. MEC Motsumi says this service delivery to schools is an investment in the future.
“Today I led a delegation to the monitor examinations in Stella, Colridge, and Vryburg where myself and the team continued with the exam monitoring drive to ensure the smooth running of these examinations which are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our teachers learners, and school staff.
“We are here to show our learners that they have the full backing of the North West government and our commitment to their success. We also handed over educational materials to our Grade R learners in our bid to invest in the future, making sure that from Grade R to Grade 12 every learner has the opportunity to thrive. Gone are the days where our Grade R learners are handed play tools that won’t add an educational value in the long run,” Motsumi expresses.
The Department will continue its rigorous monitoring efforts and support initiatives throughout the examination period to uphold the quality and integrity of the 2024 NSC examinations.
