MEC MOTSUMI CONVEYS HER MESSAGE OF GRATITUDE TO AVBOB FOR DONATING A CONTAINER LIBRARY TO MOKASA PRIMARY SCHOOL

The North West Department of Education MEC, Viola Motsumi, has expressed her sincere gratitude to AVBOB for donating a container library to Mokasa Primary School in Mokasa Village near Taung on Thursday, 12 March 2026.

Before receiving the container library, learners from Mokasa Primary School had limited access to reading resources and were required to travel approximately sixteen kilometres to visit the nearest library. The donation of this container library will significantly improve access to books and learning materials for the learners.

This new facility will provide a dedicated space where learners can develop a love for reading, strengthen their literacy skills, and expand their knowledge. The initiative is also expected to promote a stronger culture of learning not only within the school but also in the surrounding community.

Mr Pako Khonkhobe, the school Principal of Mokasa Primary School committed that the library will be utilised effectively by the learners.

“As a school, we commit ourselves to ensuring that this library is used effectively to promote reading, learning, and academic excellence. We believe it will play a significant role in improving literacy and empowering our learners with knowledge that will guide them throughout their lives.

“This valuable contribution by AVBOB to our school will significantly improve access to books and learning resources for our learners. It will create a dedicated space where learners can develop a love for reading, strengthen their literacy skills, and broaden their knowledge beyond the classroom” said Mr Khonkhobe.
The MEC for Education, Viola Motsumi, emphasized the importance of Public – Private Partnerships in supporting the education of learners.

“Let me take this moment to express my sincere gratitude to AVBOB. Our children will now have the opportunity to strengthen their knowledge through the books they read from the library. Indeed, it takes a village to raise a child, and the contribution of the private sector is crucial in the education of our children. Public – Private Partnerships are vital in supporting the education of our learners, as they help reach communities and schools where government resources alone may not always be sufficient.

“The utilisation of this library will help our young learners to develop research skills at a very tender age and will also provide them with a quiet space for studying. I regard a library as a fountain of knowledge,” added MEC Motsumi.

MEC Motsumi urged the community of Mokasa Village to take full responsibility for protecting and taking care of the library. She called on community members to remain vigilant and safeguard the facility against any acts of vandalism that may threaten their library.
